THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

We absolutely could not have gone to Nationals in 2010 without Kat's supporters

About Kat and Superman:

Kat is a very active and outgoing 8th grader.  Despite having a learning disability, she works extremely hard in her academics and has a 3.7 GPA.  Kat is involved with school & community plays (She played Imogene in 'The Best Christmas Pageant Ever' , roller skating, snowboarding, cos-playing (dressing up as Japanese cartoon characters) and is involved with Young Women's (church group).

Kat starting taking horse riding lessons when she was 8.  After 2 years of weekly lessons at various places, we found Kelcie Beck working at the local tack shop and she recommended Vista Farms.  Vista was only 2 miles from our house and we had been commuting 30 miles to/from Farmington for lessons!

Kat leased Atomic Superman for 2 years and then, her aunts and grandparents bought him for Kat for her 12th birthday.  Kat finished the training on Superman herself, which took them all the way to Sport Horse Nationals in 2008.

In 2010, Kat and Soup, with the help of generous donations, went to Arabian Youth Nationals to compete in HA Hunter JTR and JOTR - 13 & under.  While they didn't make it to the next round, they did get on a couple of judge's cards, which is quite an accomplishment in itself!  They also went to Arabian Sport Horse Nationals and competed in HA Sport Horse Under Saddle - Open and ATR.  And again, Kat and Soup made it on a judge's card, but did not make it to the finals.

Kat also competed in Hunter Seat Equitation - Not to Jump (judging the rider only) and rode 'Spark in the Dark' (Fig), who won a Top 10 in Show Hack at the same show.  A big thanks to Pam Crane, owner of 'Spark in the Dark' (aka 'Fig'), who generously lent Kat her horse for her Equitation Championship at Sport Horse Nationals.  (Superman decided he didn't want to leave the 'herd' and do a pattern, the little poop.  ;-))

Atomic Superman, who despite his shaky beginning as a starvation case when he was originally rescued by Wendy Onstott as a yearling, has become a beautiful and well loved champion, thanks to Kat.  Superman is a 10 yr old, National Show Horse (1/2 Arabian, 1/2 Saddlebred), gelding.  His sire is World Champion Pinto, Atomic Deluxe (Caruth Arabians).

In the process of the building of Superman, he in turn taught Kat the meaning of determination, perseverance, patience, and the power of love. Kat is able to use these tools when she takes on a horse that needs some time and understanding.

Kat is quite a talented and natural rider.  She has also become the 'go to' junior trainer/rider when they need someone to dedicate some special time and attention to a horse that needs confidence and/or extra understanding. Kat has become an excellent horseman in her own right, and will go on to become someone you will see having great success in her life; not just competitively, but personally as well.

We'd also like to thank Kat's trainers for last year.  Kelcie Beck, Wendy Onstott and lessons from Carolyn McDonald.

Due to budget restrictions, we've decided to take the year off and not show this year.  Kat and Superman have been working most of the winter, but it will also be good to take some time off.  Superman is getting filled out this winter, probably the fattest he's ever been in his life!
